Goddess Durga was created to combat the evil demon Mahishasura. The trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva came together to create a powerful female form with ten arms. When Durga emerged from the waters of the holy Ganga as a spirit, she was given a physical form by all the gods put together.
Durga identified as adi parshakti ,is a principal n popular form of hindu goddess parvati , she is a goddess of war ,the warrior form of parvati ,whose mythology centers around combating evils n demonic forces that threaten peace ,prosperity, dharma,the power of good over evil, durga is also a fierce form of the protective mother goddess .
According to legend, the durga was created for the slaying of the buffalo demon mahisasura by Brahma vishnu n shiva and the lesser gods who was powerless to overcome him. Embodying their collective energy (shakti) she is both derivative from the male divinities and the true source of inner power .
